AMC Cinemas opened yet another new cinema location – Al Khair, at Al Makan Mall in Riyadh, KSA on Tuesday 25th August 2020.
The cinema features 9 screens with a total of 801 seats, and also includes IMAX and PRIME at AMC experiences. Al Khair also features AMC Cinema Souq, a reimagined and fully customizable food and beverage concept which treats moviegoers to classic cinema fare, restaurant-quality hot food, special desserts, handcrafted beverages from AMC MacGuffins Mocktail and Coffee Bar as well as movie merchandise and much more.

Muvi Cinemas – Saudi Arabia’s first homegrown cinema brand, opened its doors to cinemagoers at Jubail Mall in the eastern Saudi city of Jubail on Tuesday 25th August 2020.
The cinema features 5 standard screens with a total of 413 seats.
The opening of Jubail Mall follows the launch of the 13 screen cinema at U-Walk (Riyadh) in March 2020, and is the first of three locations by the cinema exhibitor to launch after the re-opening of cinemas in Saudi Arabia, post the COVID-19 lockdown.
Muvi Cinemas also launched two other locations following its opening at Jubail Mall: an eight screen cinema at Al Ahsa Mall in Hofuf on 26th August 2020, which also features an Xperience screen – a large format cinema concept exclusive to Muvi Cinemas, and a nine screen cinema at Haifa Mall in Jeddah on 28th August 2020.

The design for the three cinema complexes were done by UK’s Chapman Taylor, and is based on a theme of urban downtown, with an aim to create a dynamic, modern and innovative cinema experience.
With a total of 63 screens across 7 locations in 5 cities, Muvi Cinemas is presently expanding its operation in Saudi Arabia, with three more locations expected to open in the month September 2020 – Aziz Mall (Jeddah), Mall of Dhahran (Dhahran) and Nakheel Mall (Riyadh).

AMC Cinemas has opened its third Saudi cinema at Al Makan Mall, in the Eastern Province city of Hafr Al Batin.
AMC – Al Makan Mall officially opened on 13th August 2020, with a screening of the Saudi-directed and produced feature film Shams Al-Maaref. The cinema features 8 screens and 787 seats, and includes an IMAX screen.

VOX Cinemas opened its tenth cinema at Tabuk Park in Saudi Arabia (the first ever cinema in the city of Tabuk) on Monday 27th July 2020, in line with its commitment to expand its footprint to new cities across the country.
The 11-screen multiplex has a seating capacity of 831 and features VOX Cinemas’ signature concepts including two KIDS screens, a colourful and dedicated auditorium for young movie lovers, and VIP, which offers guests a more luxurious experience. Following the reopening of cinemas by VOX and Muvi cinemas in KSA, AMC Cinemas reopened its doors to the public on Thursday 2nd July 2020. In line with government restrictions, social distancing remains in place and wearing a face mask is mandatory.

VOX Cinemas launched its ninth cinema in Saudi Arabia at Sahara Mall (Riyadh) on Wednesday 24 June 2020.
The cinema features 11 screens with a total seating capacity of 991 seats and includes VOX Kids and GOLD cinema experiences.
The launch of the cinema at Sahara Mall also marked a significant milestone for VOX, having surpassed 100 screens in Saudi Arabia in just over two years.
With the opening of Sahara Mall closely following the reopening of cinemas after a three-month closure in KSA due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VOX has undertaken extensive precautionary measures and has implemented thorough sanitization and physical distancing protocols across all cinema locations in the country.
Majid Al Futtaim also conducted extensive research to identify the top safety measures that would make guests feel comfortable about returning to its venues and used the findings to proactively reimagine the guest experience, which translated into a comprehensive site and training plan to ensure that all leisure, entertainment and cinema experiences were completely prepared for the reopening.

Egypt significantly eased regulations against the spread of the coronavirus, cancelling the overnight lockdown on June 23, 2020, with cinemas among the list of venues allowed to reopen. VOX Cinemas Egypt opened its doors to the public on June 27, 2020, with all necessary health and safety measures in place – in line with government guidelines.

Following the reopening of cinemas in Dubai and Ajman, and as part of the reopening of economic and tourism activities, cinemas in in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah also reopened at 50 per cent capacity on June 24, 2020. Individuals entering cinemas are still required to have their temperature checked at the entrance, wear face masks and observe physical distancing of two metres.
Cinemas in UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will screen previously released blockbusters from 2019 and early 2020, until new blockbusters start releasing from July 2020.
